"SAVETY" vs. Commodity "SAVETY" System Examples: Bottle Wash Station

Bottle Wash Station

The "SAVETY" Systems Approach

Many Customers in the Food Packaging Industry use Bottle Wash Stations as part of a complete product bottling manufacturing line. Harsh, wet conditions present many unique problems when safe guarding machinery.

This control reliable, Jokab "SAVETY" System provides Category 4 safety for Wash Stations by combining our electronic safety devices, that are engineered to be compatible, and offer ease of connect-ability for simplified installation. In this application the four encapsulated Eden E Sensors used to guard access doors, are plugged into one side of the M12-3E Connectors. The four panel mount Inca E-Stops are plugged into the other side of the M12-3E Connectors. The M12-3E Connectors allow for 2 entirely different circuits, with different stop conditions, to be wired into the same port. Cables connected to lower part of the M12-3E connectors are then connected to the Tina 4A Connector Block ports. Now only one cable coming from the Tina 4A will be run back to the panel.

Compared to using the "Standard Commodity Approach" our system reduced 32 wiring points down to 8 and cables running from and going back to the panel from 8 down to one. In addition, our system features built-in LED diagnostics and uses only one Pluto Safety PLC to monitor the entire system.

If the "Standard Commodity Approach" of buying conventional mechanical interlock switches, and e-stops were used for this system, it would only reach Category 1 mechanical, Category 3 electrical and would not be control reliable.
