Pluto Safety PLC Adds Gateway

The Pluto Safety PLC System has now been further developed to incorporate additional communication links with other bus-systems, modules with more I/O’s and easier connections with AS-i.

PLUTO is an ”All-Supervisor” safety PLC concept, which simplifies the design of safety systems and achieves the highest safety category 4 according to EN 954-1. All Pluto’s are Supervisor units and can see the other Pluto’s inputs, outputs and global memories. This enables the Pluto to be able to evaluate the information from the other Pluto’s on the network allowing decisions to be made concerning its own safety. The safety system is programmed with Pluto Manager which is a Windows based programming tool. It is optional to use both TÜV approved safety function blocks and also to program freely. Preferably ladder diagram programming can be used.

Gateways for Pluto PLC to major bus-systems

Jokab Safety has released 3 new Gateways for bi-directional communication between the Pluto Safety PLC System and other field bus systems. The supported protocols are Profibus-DP, DeviceNet and CANopen. This enables the customer to choose their machine safety solution from Jokab Safety independent from what higher level bus-system they use for the standard machine control. Gateways for Ethernet are also under development and are expected to be released during 2007.

More I/O´s on the new B/S46-6

Jokab Safety has released a new Pluto module (90 mm in width), for the PLUTO Safety PLC System. The Pluto B46-6 module has been developed from the need for a compact safety PLC module with more I/O’s. PLUTO B46-6 has in total 46 I/O’s of which 6 are individual safe outputs. 16 I/O’s can be used either as inputs or outputs and 24 I/O’s are inputs for safety devices or other devices. An HMI can be connected directly to the serial interface on the front of the Pluto module or to the safety can-bus.
